PiersAlexander.com goes live

I hope you like the website. It’s designed by The Curved House, who do very beautiful, simple design and typography. I first saw their work when we were given a copy of London for Lovers, which is a gorgeous book.

We had a lot of fun making the audio with voice artist, actor and producer Roland Bearne, and I loved working at 5A Studios with Cristina and Michael. It’s a bit unusual to have voices on a book website, so do let me know what you think.

I’d also love to know if you’ve been reading the historical notes and “out-takes”. A lot of love of hard work went into The Bitter Trade, and about half of it would never normally see the light of day: more than 100,000 words of scenes and characters that I really like but that would make it a monster of a debut novel. I also spent many happy days at the London Library looking at obscure dusty books about duels, the cost of pigeons, and who sat where in Restoration churches. There are many deliberate historical errors in The Bitter Trade, but I am very happy to have a chat with better historians than me about them!

Thanks a lot for visiting. Do sign up for the newsletter if you’d like to be kept up to date.
